Marma therapy is part of occupational therapy and massage therapy services offered at Living Room Yoga. Marma therapy is an Ayurvedic practice of calming or energizing – whichever is indicated – key energy centers found at junction points of muscle, veins, ligaments, bones, and bone joints. Marmas, which are similar to meridian points in Chinese Medicine, get blocked by toxins, stress, and negative emotions, and this can lead to pain, energy congestion, swelling, and disease. Healing occurs through the application of pressure, massage oils, heat, herbs, aromatic oils, and sound therapy. You can receive marma therapy with either Barry Cooper, LMT, or Stacy Renz, OTR/L. With Barry you can experience marma therapy with abhyanga or swedish massage or all on its own. As with cranial sacral therapy, Stacy performs marma therapy as one of the modalities of holistic occupational therapy services. With Stacy the recipient is fully clothed and the treatment is used as a modality to help you resolve your specific issues uncovered in the initial OT assessment. MA42548, MM29887, OT8447.
