Living Room Yoga Fruit and Vegetable Challenge

Have you ever known someone who tells you they cannot eat when they are under stress?  I am not that person.  Under stress I eat for comfort and it is easy to pack on the pounds.    The stress of the depressed economy over the past year has taken its toll on me and lately I have been feeling uncomfortable in my body.  For this reason, I am presenting myself with a challenge that I would also like to extend to you.  My intention this holiday season is to optimize my physical, mental, and emotional well-being by eating at least eight fruits and vegetables per day and write about my experience on my Heal Yourself, Heal the World Blog.   Let me know of your intention to accept my challenge and posting your intention here.

    I am on my third day of this challenge. I met the challenge the last two days, but barely. I am finding that it is important to start out the day with fruits and vegetables. If I don’t it is hard to catch up later in the day. Another challenge is to make sure I can get to the store every two or three days to replenish my supply of fresh food. Also, I have found discrepancies in sources regarding what a serving is. I have decided to go with the following: For vegetables 1 cup raw or 1/2 cup cooked is a serving. For fruits, 1/2 cup is a serving. I have been having some intestinal upset lately. This could be from the antiobiotics I am taking … I am hoping that this better diet will resolve it.

    Over the past two days I completely lost interest in fruits and vegetables. It is crossing my mind that I may need to do something more structured to drop weight. Weight Watchers again? Maybe today will be better …

    I am bummed that no else is reading this blog but me but oh well … I am back on track the last two days with my veggie and fruit eating. Today I will go over quota thanks to V-8 fruit fusion.

    Jennifer, it is sucking. I have lost my way and have been eating too much starch. I vascillate about doing something more structured to drop my recession pounds – like weight watchers again. Sometimes I long for the days when my self-esteem was tied up in my weight – that was enough motivation to
    help me lose weight – but now I just love myself so much regardless of what I weigh … lol
