The Feldenkrais Method® is a unique approach for improving your posture, balance, and movement abilities so you can perform your daily activities with more comfort and ease. The learning happens by lying down on the floor or sitting in a chair (away from gravity), exploring variations of a movement either by yourself in a class or with a practitioner in an individual lesson where touch is used to guide your learning.
The premise of the Feldenkrais Method® is that muscles are stimulated to move, or stay tense, by your nervous system or brain. Your posture, balance, and movements will be more efficient and easier to maintain if you can find the support of your bones and become more aware of excessive muscular efforts. Through Bonnie’s guidance in either an individual lesson or class, you learn to sense how your bones create a chain of action. With this clearer “image of action,” muscles learn to synergize around an action and work more efficiently. You learn how thought, emotions, and actions work together to create more efficient options.
The Feldenkrais Method® is appropriate for people of all ages and conditions. It helps to prevent injuries from falls or overuse, assists the young with developmental delays, and facilities rehabilitation from accidents, injuries, and illness.

Bonnie Kissam, M.A. is a Guild Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner® who studied directly with Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais. She holds two Masters degrees – Physical Education/Dance and Exceptional Student Education (USF, 2009). For more than 30 years, Bonnie has helped children move beyond postural and learning difficulties and has assisted adults in easing and overcoming neurological and orthopedic challenges. She also works with performing artists and athletes who want to improve their abilities or prevent injury.
