Response to Weight-Loss Consumer Bill of Rights

Chapter 501 Consumer Protection
Before you begin hypnotherapy sessions for weight-loss, please be aware of the following for your protection:
1. Please consult with your healthcare provider before beginning any weight-loss program. In fact, to comply with Florida law in regards to hypnotherapy practice, I must have a written referral from your healthcare provider before we begin our work together. This oversight by your healthcare provider is for your safety and will allow me to be aware of any pertinent medical concerns that impact your overall health and our work together.
2. Losing more than 1.5 – 2 pounds per week (after the second week of participation) may cause serious health problems. If you are experiencing rapid weight loss, please let me know and consult with your physician.
3. Only permanent lifestyle changes, such as making healthful food choices and increasing physical activity promote long-term weight loss. How hypnotherapy helps is to assist you in making better food choices, eliminate cravings for unhealthy foods, create the desire and propensity toward greater activity, and help you turn to more productive activities (instead of eating) in response to stress.
4. My qualifications: I am a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist certified by New England Institute of Hypnotherapy based in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. I also hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Sociology from Seattle Pacific University, a Masters in Occupational Therapy from University of Puget Sound, and a 1000-Hour Certification in Yoga Therapy through Integrative Yoga Therapy. I am a Registered Experienced Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance and a Licenced and Registered Occupational Therapist in the State of Florida.
5. Duration of your program: For significant weight-loss, it is recommended that you start with three sessions and purchase additional sessions as needed. Hypnosis works best in conjunction with a sound dietary and exercise plan in place. Your hypnosis sessions will support your resolve on your chosen plan as well as support a healthy metabolism.
6. Cost of program. A safe bet is that you will need a minimum of three sessions. To encourage your success I offer a three-session special. Should you find that you do not need all your sessions purchased, you may transfer them to a friend or loved one.

7. Nutrition and Diet: My qualifications do not allow me to advice you in regards to nutrition or to supply you with a specific diet. However, what I can do is support your adherence to the dietary and nutritional plan supplied by your referring physician (if you have been give such a plan). I can also use suggestions pertaining to your making healthy food choices in general.
8. Does hypnotherapy work for weight loss? Several studies have been done to determine the effectiveness of hypnotherapy for weight loss (see the reports in your folder). One study showed that those who use hypnotherapy in addition to following a healthy eating and exercise plan are more likely to meet their long-term weight-loss goals than those who use diet and exercise alone. Another study indicated that those who received both weight-loss behavioral treatment and hypnotherapy lost 34 times the amount of weight at six months than those who received the weight-loss behavioral treatment alone.
