 Life Balance Yoga Ethical Guidelines for Yoga Teachers

As a teacher of therapeutic yoga certified by Living Room Yoga Life Balance Yoga Therapy, I recognize that it is my responsibility and privilege to support the physical, mental, and spiritual growth of my students by providing a safe environment for the learning of Yoga principles.  Therefore, I agree to abide by the following ethical code:

In recognition of the trust placed in me by my students, I agree to:

• Respect my students’ personal beliefs and values.
• Maintain confidentiality of student records and communications.
• Offer my services to all persons, regardless of race, gender, national origin, sexual orientation, or religion.
• Avoid taking advantage of students financially, sexually, romantically, or otherwise. 

Professional Conduct    

In conducting my professional yoga practice, I will: 

• Offer only those services that I am competent to provide.
• Provide rehabilitative instruction only for those problems or issues that are within the reasonable boundaries of my competence.
• Be honest, straightforward, fair, and conscientious in all business dealings.
• Manage my business finances according to accepted business and accounting practice.
• Take continuing education on a regular basis.
• Conduct my personal life in a healthful fashion and seek appropriate assistance for my personal problems or conflicts.

 Advertising 

In brochures, advertising, and verbal descriptions of my services, I will:

• Make no exaggerated claims as to the benefits of yoga practice or my classes.
• Represent my training, qualifications, abilities, affiliations and endorsements accurately and unambiguously.
